Port Clinton is the Walleye Capital of the World, and home of the Walleye Drop Celebration on New Years Eve, it’s the perfect destination located on Lake Erie in Ottawa County, Ohio, providing the most abundant access to Lake Erie. Our beautiful shoreline community features a natural preserve that provides habitat for many of the area's wildlife species. The Catawba Island is not an Island at all, Catawba shares the shoreline of Lake Erie with Port Clinton, splitting the Peninsula with Marblehead. The Historical Society operates a museum where you can learn about the area’s rich history. Catawba Island State Park offers acres of natural areas and parks, it is a great place to fish or access a public boat ramp. Also known for its peach orchards and vineyards, Catawba Island has an excellent selection of dining experiences, as you sip on a uniquely blended local wine or craft brews.

The Main Land - Ottawa County, Ohio
The main land shores offer access points to view Lake Erie, Sandusky Bay, South Bass Island Kelleys Island, Mouse Island, Rattlesnake Island and, on clear days, Peele Island. Catawba Island is home to The Miller Ferry terminal for access to Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass Island. Port Clinton is the home for the Jet Express, the fastest way to Put-n-Bay and the Kelly's Island ferry is located in Marblehead. The great Magee Marsh Preserve is a Lake Erie marsh habitat and a haven for birds that migrate through the region in the spring and fall. The nature trails are tucked beside Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and afford beautiful views of lake, dikes and the boardwalk with a bird trail located at the end of the wildlife area road; the most popular destination for visiting bird watchers. The view of water lotus in summer and waterfowl in fall can also be seen. During your travels through Ottawa County, you'll want to take a detour through the quaint little towns of Oak Harbor, Genoa and Elmore. At the West end of our county, you'll fine a breath taking arboretum, breweries, a distillery, fine eateries and many great boutiques.
